Tesla Patents - PR stunt or a Savvy Business Decision?

When Elon Musk made his bold annoucement on Tesla's Official Blog, it took the entire tech industry by surprise. Patents are the new world ammunition that high tech companies use to keep their competitive stance and hence Elon Musk's decision to open up all of Tesla's patents for public use was unconventional to say the least.

Being focused is about knowing when to say 'NO'

Coming straight from the horse's mouth, Steve Jobs talks about how managing engineering resources smartly and  rigorously is at the core of many things that Apple did to make a comeback. It surely worked as we can tell from the resounding successes the company has had in recent years. There are many different concepts that Steve talks about in this rear footage ranging from insights into Marketing, Technology, PR and Vision. Made me wonder where I was 15 years ago when he first talked about the realities of today - iPhones, iPads and the world of Cloud Computing!

Think Differently...Think Apple

I have recently been very fascinated by apple - products and SJobs, something that culminated with me getting myself an iPhone 4. I luv it...absolutely!!
Yeah there were many reasons that kept me away from these products (I even let the iPod pass), reasons that I had to weigh in before I made my first purchase of an apple product. I remember discussing with a friend that getting on the apple bandwagon was a journey of its own...it really is. Apple has such a compelling ecosystem that once you use an apple product you are likely to add more products that will work well with it and before you know you have these gadgets all around you. I am not there yet but I would not be surprised if that happens and I will probably not resist it either. Above all, I think that the tipping point in my decision process was when i realized the engineering excellence behind making a product that intuitive and the marketing acumen to visualize the market trends. Its only when marketing and engineering have a happy marriage that the product will be world changing!!
